Running fast and turning left were two of my strong suits growing up, so naturally, I decided to take my talents to Dalhousie University as a sprints specialist. While completing my degree in Management and training full-time, I was also working as a waiter to help alleviate some of the financial burden of student loans. Track & Field is very much an individual sport, which tied in well with my shy personality at the time, so it was through my experience working in high-end restaurants that I developed the confidence and ability to sell. 

Upon graduation, I continued working as a waiter for more than a year before deciding it was time to take my passion for sales in a different direction. I woke up at 9am on a Sunday morning in May of 2018 with the goal of moving to Toronto and pursuing a career in sales. By 11:30am, I had my bags packed and was on my way to the train station. I landed a job landscaping within 24 hours of setting in Toronto and spent the summer actively searching for a sales or business development role to cut my teeth. I got my first opportunity working for a corporate marketing and events start-up selling sponsorship in a B2B setting. This was the learning experience that I had been hoping for, as it was a great way to get in the much-needed repetitions selling over the phone. 

In 2021, I reached out to a recruiter at STA in search of a role within an organization with a culture that aligned with mine. I was thrilled to hear about an internal role that had recently opened up. Upon meeting with Sonya and Asad, it was obvious that I had found somewhere that I could grow and develop as a young professional after learning more about the culture and values at STA. I’m thrilled to be a part of the incredible team here and develop my sales and recruitment abilities.
