Laura Hopkins

Senior Account Manager, Toronto

When I was 17 years old I landed my first sales role and I’ve never looked back. It seemed like a great idea at the time; I started in door-to-door sales selling coupon books in a commission only, 24/7, competitive environment. I approached all types of businesses by day and rang doorbells by night. As an often unwelcome solicitor, I had to learn quickly how to read people, make them smile, and keep their attention. I learned grit, determination, and that with the right attitude, every ‘no’ leads you closer to a ‘yes’. Would I ever recommend this as a long-term career? Absolutely not. But I’ll always be grateful for the valuable lessons I would take with me for the rest of my life.

Over the better part of the next two decades, I found success in using this foundation to build strong, overachieving sales teams. I’ve worked in the health and SaaS industries, but the bulk of my career has been in the travel industry where I had the opportunity to become the team leader for multiple underperforming teams, rebuild them into profitable businesses and then move on to the next. Before the pandemic’s impact on the travel industry, I was responsible for the growth, people, and profit of 20 travel agencies across Eastern Canada with 120 employees.

Through these years in sales leadership, I’ve developed a keen eye for spotting sales talent, developing leaders, and reading potential in people. What drives me most is a sense of contribution to something bigger than myself. I’m passionate about helping people achieve their goals and helping them further their careers. I am truly motivated by finding business solutions that help organizations meet their objectives, increase their revenue and amplify their ROI.

I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to combine my love for sales, people, and business planning as a Senior Account Manager with Sales Talent Agency.

For the love of sales!
