Our client is a high-growth fintech company reimagining how consumers manage recurring expenses—starting with rent. With a B2B2C model, they partner with institutional property managers to enable renters to pay on time and in full while giving them flexibility to split payments across the month. The company underwrites payments based on cash flow and has processed over $20B in flexible rent transactions, expanding rapidly into new categories such as utilities, broadband, insurance, and mobile. Backed by leading investors and led by founder and operator David, who previously built and sold a large rental REIT and invested in alternative lending, the company is now over 100 employees strong and tripling revenue year over year. They are building the financial infrastructure to make bill management more flexible across categories that touch nearly every household.

Director of Strategic Partnerships - New Verticals

Our client is seeking a Director of Strategic Partnerships to lead expansion into new verticals beyond rent—including insurance, utilities, broadband, and mobile. This is a senior, high-impact role for a founding partnerships leader who can define and execute early go-to-market strategy in uncharted categories. The ideal candidate combines commercial rigor, category expertise, and the ability to navigate complex B2B2C partnerships with major billers, payment platforms, and enterprise aggregators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead partnership strategy for one or more new verticals (e.g., utilities, broadband, insurance, mobile).
  • Identify, prioritize, and secure high-value B2B partnerships—enterprise platforms, billers, and aggregators—to embed the company's split-payment technology.
  • Conduct early-stage market discovery, validate product-market fit, and inform pricing and positioning strategy.
  • Drive outbound partner engagement (not inbound), developing relationships with enterprise accounts (e.g., Geico, Comcast, major insurers, and utilities).
  • Collaborate with product, GTM, and leadership teams to adapt the financial product for each vertical's unique billing structure.
  • Own the full partnership lifecycle—from pipeline development through negotiation, launch, and post-launch adoption.
  • Report to the Founder/CEO and serve as a strategic partner in defining vertical priorities and market hypotheses.
Qualifications
  • 8-12+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, or GTM strategy in fintech, payments, or a relevant adjacent industry (utilities, telecom, insurance, proptech).
  • Proven success driving outbound enterprise partnerships and navigating multi-stakeholder, high-value integrations.
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen with comfort in ambiguity and early-stage, high-growth environments.
  • Experience defining new categories or 0→1 GTM motions, ideally in B2B2C or embedded finance contexts.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to influence product, risk, and executive teams.
  • Based in New York (preferred); other key hubs include San Francisco or Austin with hybrid flexibility.
